The ongoing reconfiguration of the coal supply chain owing to constrained supply as European countries have banned the use of Russian imported coal has driven distribution costs higher and elevated coal prices to often unprecedented levels between 2020 and 2022. At a peak $ 450 per tonne, it was inevitable that the coal price will come off from its all-time peak as new sources of supply to Europe matured and countries found alternative ways to manage their energy requirements.
